Our Mission
The Northside Academy of Taekwondo is under the auspice of The American Taekwondo Foundation. The ATF was established by 9th degree Grand Master Y. S. Chung back in 1988. It was his original intention to provide only his instructors with the guidance they needed to reach the public and open schools. However, this theory subsided quickly when outside established instructors saw that Grand Master Chung, and the ATF, boasted many assets conductive to their goals.
ATF is to set high
standards, create a family atmosphere, and encourage the sharing of ideas,
knowledge and expertise. In Asheville, Mr. Richard Tener, Chief Instructor and
Owner of the Asheville Academy of Taekwondo, has been conducting classes for
over ten years, and is now the area regional director for the ATF. He has passed
on his expertise to David Frayer, chief instructor and Owner of the Northside
Academy of Tae Kwon Do, and other area instructors. Our Goal, along with Mr.
Tener and Grand Master Chung, is to provide the same quality level of
instruction on improving the quality of life for child and adult students alike,
using the proven methods of our curriculum.
